Co-owners Sean Geddis and Matty Symons have opened the doors to their new brewery, and the craft beer lovers of Charleston have arrived.  I had the honor of meeting both of them on Saturday and getting an inside look at what it takes to open a brewery.

To friends, to beer, Two Blokes!

Matty Symons. Bloke, Co-founder, Head Brewer, Operations Manager. With 20 years of brewing experience, he attended Siebel Institute, America’s oldest brewing school, to hone his craft into todays brews.   (see here for their website and a full bio)

Sean Geddis. Bloke, Co-Founder, Sales and Public Relations. A resident of Charleston the last 12 years, Sean is a born entrepreneur. With experience from bar management to software sales, he insures the beer keeps flowing, and the lights stay on.

With a freshly polished wood bar greeting you as you walk in, you will notice how easy on the eye this place is. Sean is responsible for alot of the design work, and the whole Two Blokes crew have put in a ton of sweat equity into completing the space.

Shiny new tanks and piping in the background are a product of a quickly growing market. I asked Matty why they went with new equipment when just starting out. He said used brewery equipment sells so fast, it was difficult to even get a bid on them. So they decided to go all in with new gear. The state of the art heating system is pretty cool also.

Now on to the good stuff. These are some of their staple brews.

Drone. Honey Rye IPA 7%.  Made with rye and Bee Well Honey, this flagship beer is a nice way to start an evening after a hard day at work. A little kick with alot of smooth makes this beer one to take home in a  growler.

Publican.  Pale Ale 5.1%  This malty crisp brew is a British-style pub ale. Its a glass half full beer. As in, please keep this glass half full at all times barkeep! The floral notes are brought about by East Kent Goldings and Fuggles hops.

Bushfire. Chipotle Amber Ale 7.3% If you have a friend, who has not tried craft beer before, start them off with a Drone, and then lay this baby on them! An amber beer made with a balanced amount of chipotle peppers gives you a little heat on the backend, with a mouthful of amber flavors on the front. Of my time there, this was my favorite.  The smokey middle is what kept me drinking this one.

You can enjoy their brews all week long with their new summer hours. Take you time in visiting, and plan on taking a crowler home with you.
